Define the term varices

Expert
Varix means abnormal enlargement of the veins. Varices take place when extreme pressure against the normal blood flux makes enlargement of the vein and therefore inadequate functioning of its valves (that is, venous deficiency).
Varices are much common in the veins of inferior limbs as the fluid column above such vessels is higher. This is the main reason why people who spend much time standing (example: surgeons) are more prone to varices. In broad varices are not the apparent superficial veins which appear in the leg only capillaries carry out exchange of gases and another substance with the tissues.
