The formation of egg cells starts with a germ cell known as oogonium (2n) which Undergoes mitosis and produce oocyte I (2n). The oocyte I undergo meiosis I which however is broken up at prophase. After puberty through each menstrual cycle an oocyte I complete the meiosis I and produce one oocyte II (n) and the first polar body (n). With Fecundation the oocyte II then undergoes meiosis II and generates the mature egg cell (n) and the subsequent polar body (n).
