The wireless LAN network is capable of providing a medium of communication within a particular geographical location even when the people are on move. The major components in a wireless LAN are access point and wireless clients.

The benefits attached with the use of wireless LAN are mobility, rapid deployment, flexibility and scalability. The organization using wireless LAN provides its employees the ease of using the network even when they are not at their desk.

There are some major threats to the wireless LAN like denial of service, eavesdropping, man-in-the-middle, masquerading, message modification, message replay, traffic analysis and physically tampered.
