Meninges are membranes which enclose and shield central nervous system (or CNS). Cerebrospinal fluid is the fluid which divides the three layers which form the meninges and it has functions of nutrient transport, mechanical and defense protection for CNS. The cerebrospinal fluid fills and protects cavities of brain and spinal cord.
