a. William Scholtz was a security guard for Garden State Park. The park was hosting a prom when it received a bomb threat. Scholtz's supervisor told him to check the pre-mises for a bomb, but he refused, claiming he had had no training in responding to bomb threats or in bomb detection. He was fired.
b. DuPont produces Zonyl RP, a chemical that makes paper resistant to grease. After reading a 1987 study showing Zonyl could leach from paper coats into food at an unacceptable rate, chemical engineer Glenn Evers tried to persuade DuPont colleagues to notify customers and regulators. The company later learned that Zonyl breaks down into a substance that persists in the blood of humans, but by then the chemical was a best seller. When DuPont restructured in 2002, Evers was fired.
