Determine the strength ratio at first ply failure of beam

Solve the following problem:

Determine the strength ratio at first ply failure of the beam designed in Problem 1. Consider tensile, compressive, and shear stress. Use the carpet plots.

Problem 1:

Using the simplified method, design an I-beam of length L = 4 m to be supported at the ends and loaded at the midspan by a load P = 1000 N. The maximum deflection should not exceed 1/800 of the span. Use the carpet plots for E-glass-polyester with Vf = 0.5. Use the same laminate configuration for the flanges and the web and use your judgement to select values of α, β, γ in the carpet plots. Let the height-to-width ratio be h/b = 2 and the width-to-thickness ratio be b/t = 10. Optimum values for these geometric ratios could be obtained by analyzing the buckling modes of the beam.
