INTRODUCTION
 
Decisions issued by courts of law and administrative agencies create laws that Human Resources Professionals must know and follow.  These decisions may dramatically impact an employer’s obligations to its employees and may lead to significant legal liability or other legal problems with private litigants or government agencies.
 
PURPOSE
 
The purpose of this exercise is to give students with an opportunity to get extra credit if it is needed to pass the class or push a student into the next higher grade bracket.  It is not a required assignment for anyone. 
 
ASSIGNMENT
 
You must pick ONE of the Extra Credit assignment decisions in the Course Assignments section of Web Campus.  One is called Lexus of Concord Case – Extra Credit Choice No. 1 and the other is called Moreno v. Acura 101 California Supreme Court Case-- Extra Credit Choice No. 2.  You only pick ONE!
 
Read the ONE you chose and then create a 500 word or more summary of what the judges decided in the case.  Your summary must include:

(1) a short explanation of the facts leading up to the dispute,

(2) who won the dispute,

(3) why the judges said the party won

(4) what you learned in terms of human resources issues from the decision. You should use at least 12 pt. Times New Roman font and it should be double-spaced.
