SCON is defined as the serial port control register, that consist of not only mode selection bits (SM0 – SM2, REN), but also 9th data bit for transmit and receive (TB8 and RB8) and serial port interrupt bits (TI and RI).

SM0 – Serial port mode control bit 0
SM1 – Serial port mode control bit 1
SM2 – Serial port mode control bit 2
REN – Receiver enable control bit
TB8 – Transmit bit 8
RB8 – Receive bit 8
RI – Receive interrupt flag
TI – Transmit Interrupt flag
