Mechatronics is a term coined by the Japanese to describe the integration of mechanical and electronics engg. More specifically, it refers to a multidisciplinary approach to product and manufacturing system design. It represents the next generation machine, robots, & smart mechanism for carrying out work in a variety of environments. E.g.: a cnc machine tools, which cut metal automatically, industrial robot etc.

The key issue or element is how to become competitive, attractive in the light of the fact that for all product and service there is competition. Four elements are to be considered as follows:

  • cost
  • quality
  • product specification
  • delivery
