Reaction Turbine :

a) The steam at high pressure from the boiler is passed through the nozzles.

b) When this steam comes out from these nozzles, the velocity of steam rises relative to rotating disc.

c) Resulting forces of steam on nozzle gives the rotating motion to the disc and the shaft.

d) The shaft rotates in opposite direction of the steam.

  Example: Francis Turbine, Kaplan Turbine.
