Expert
a) High head power plant – When the water level exceeds the height of the 70m , the hydroelectric power plant is said to be high head power plant. The Pelt on wheel turbine is used as the prime mover.
b) Medium head power plant – When the height of head water ranges between 15m to 70m, then the hydroelectric power plant is called as medium head power plant. Francis turbine is used as the prime mover.
c) Low head power plant – When the height of the head of water is less than 15m, then the hydro electric power plant is called as low head power plant. Kaplan turbine is used as the prime mover.
