Youth struggling with maintaining her behaviors in school

Problem: Clinically write DAP note

Met with youth for session after significant even in school which led to youth being suspended, yesterday youth was struggling with maintaining her behaviors while in school. Youth report significant distress with several peers in her class indicating that they were starting trouble with her for no reason. Sophia reported liking a boy, who allededly could be linked to someone else. I reminded Sophia about the need to remain on track with her treatment goals and a large focus of it being related to the need to focus on herself. Sophia was reminded of the importance of focusing on herself and her ultimate goal of potentially being adopted by Ms. Robin. We addressed the school reporting that she is wearing inappropriate clothing in which she became very defensive and stated that it's no one business what she wears. It was explained to Sophia that while she is in program it is the staff responsibility that she is dressed age appropriately. She then became really challenging about what is considered appropriate and how it depends on who you ask. I think asked Sophia to google general age appropriate clothing for a 12 year old. At the top of the google search was "tween" clothing so it was explained to Sophia what "tween" means. We discussed different fashion trends and why it's important to dress age appropriately she didn't agree. She stated that she has a right to express herself and she stated that ms Robin also agrees that it's her right to express herself freely. It was explained to Sophia that it is okay to express herself freely but it still does need to be appropriate. It was explained to Sophia that when she is adopted her parent will still be responsible to make sure her she is dressing appropriately. Sophia stated that when she lives with Ms. Robin she will be able to wear what she wants as they have already had these discussions. It was also explained to Sophia that the program is not the only complaint of inappropriate clothing, it was explained to her that the school has consistently brought this issue up as well. We then shifted the focus to Sophia being suspended from school, and her behaviors that led up to the suspension. Sophia continued to deflect and blame the school staff for provoking her to the point where she ended up cutting herself with scissors. She reported that it was not meant in a way to self-harm instead to show the school staff to be able to do what she wants. We will continue to address ongoing impulsive destructive decision making in future sessions. Need Assignment Help?
