you should document each step of each iteration

You should document each step of each iteration of your design.

1. You should include the following items from your preparation.

a. A state diagram of the handshaking receiver system.

b. A state table for the handshaking receiver system.

c. The next state and output equations for a finite state machine to implement the hand shaking receiver system.

d. A hardcopy of the VHDL file next_s.vhd that implements the desired next state and output equations for the receiver.

2. Attach a hardcopy of your schematic after it has been successfully compiled and you are ready to go to part 3 of the procedure.

3. Attach an annotated copy of the functional simulation results from part 3 of the procedure, indicating whether the simulation results are acceptable or not. If the simulation results are not acceptable, document any changes you make to correct any observed problems.

4. Attach an annotated hardcopy of the timing simulation results from part 4 of the procedure, indicating whether the simulation results are acceptable or not. If the simulation results are not acceptable, document any changes you make to correct any observed problems.

5. Attach a hardcopy of the schematic of the handshaking test circuit from part 6.

Annotate it to indicate whether the circuit worked as desired or not.

6. Answer the following questions. You should always explain your answers.

a. Why would you want to have the state variables, y1 and y0, and the flip-flop inputs, d1 and d0, as outputs for your initial design?

b. Would you want to keep the state variables as outputs for a final design?
