You have just been selected as the supervisor in charge of a very diverse work group of 25. The diversity includes multiple generations (age). This group is not a team and has never been lead properly, even though they somehow manage to produce an acceptable quantity of work. Among the various issues that you face are:
• The older employees do not get along with the youngest employees and don't value their contribution to the work.
• Some individuals are able to survive in the workplace, even though they have never been properly prepared to do the job.
• Others are adept at pushing work off on others, but grabbing credit anyway.
In short, this is not a good situation. Upper management wants change within this group. What are you going to do? Be thorough in your response.
