Writing a Sonnet
In this assignment, you are to produce a sonnet with an iambic pentameter meter and a rhyme scheme that fits one of the two major rhyme schemes we have studied (Petrarchian/Shakespearean). Some flexibility in rhyme scheme is allowed if you choose to use a sestet (2 quatrains and a sestet) rather than 3 quatrains and a couplet.
In addition to the sonnet, provide a solid paragraph discussion of your choices for structure (rhyme scheme, quatrains, volta/turn, and meter), theme (subject matter) and narration (voice, perspective), as well as a discussion of the process you went through to put this sonnet together (how you generated the theme, what you did to create the sonnet step-by-step).
