You are required to adopt a critical approach to the discussion of the five (5) topics below. These discussions, resembling mini-essays, must be supported with relevant literature. You may argue for or against the statements posed. You may also take a middle ground approach by arguing on the one hand for, and on the other hand against the statement. Whatever stance you take, you must support your arguments with relevant literature and logical reasoning.
You are expected to write succinctly, closely observing the word limit (maximum 300 words) for each topic. You are advised to complete the topics consistently over the study weeks leading up to the due date.
Your critical discussions should be submitted in a single Word file, including a coversheet and clearly indicating which topic each of your responses corresponds to (including each response on a new page will assist with this).
Assessment a: Anybody can do housekeeping; it is not a skilled profession.
Assessment b: A concierge should always suggest the hotel's own services before suggesting outside entities.
Assessment c: A hotel can outsource its reservations department.
Assessment d: Automated reception machines cannot replace a majority of reception staff.
Assessment e: It is essential for hotel General Managers to work for a period of their careers as night auditors.
