Your Task:
You are required to create a RFP based on the following scenario presented in italics below. The word limit of your report is up to 3000 words (excluding title page, table of contents and references).
Unless you are a member of the fitness elite, chances are that you are one of the many that has woken on a Sunday morning, head spinning after a night of rich food, far too many drinks and three Big Macs at 3am. You are telling yourself that you want a new start, a new leaf. No more kebabs and beer. No more lying on the couch on Sunday afternoon. No more Sara Lee on a Tuesday night. That's right, you are going to get fit, once and for all. You are going to join a gym, get down to the park and do some cross-training with a group. You will find a personal trainer, learn Pilates and get back to squash.
However, where do you start? How many trainers are in your area and which ones are good? Which classes are at your local park? Can I just try a yoga session or two before formally signing into the routine class? Ur... what to do? At this point you may feel yourself losing all momentum because it sounds so hard!
Fitness is a highly fragmented industry, especially if you want to skip the major gym on the corner and want something different for more fun and motivation. It is almost impossible to know what sports, activities and fitness are happening, let alone where and when.
This is what you want to do: to initiate a website that aggregates all things fitness: classes, venues and instructors. All users need to do is just click their fingers on the website and it presents and dissects every option available to them, whether it is a boot-camp on a beach or martial arts in a gym across town. The website will provide one single platform with a powerful search engine to look for up-and-coming events, venues and instructor profiles. The platform is meant for both students and instructors alike, breaking down the traditional barriers. Students can rate instructors if they have used them before.
And it will not just stop there. It can also include many other features that are innovative and engaging, including but not limited to analytical capabilities, customer journey mapping etc. Of course all data security requirements and system functionality are part and parcel of the new website.
You have budged $50,000 for the project and you would like the system up and running in 6 months' time. You hope the system will be up and running no later than mid-year 2017.
You are extremely excited about the idea and have sat down to create a Request for Proposal to be distributed to potential bidders.
