Topic: Ethical Dilemma

Scenario:

You are a supervisor at your workplace. You have a friend (of the opposite gender) of many years who is also on your work team. One day, late on a Friday afternoon, this employee and friend (age: 60) comes to you and states that the results of the medical tests have come through and there has been a diagnosis of Stage 3 cancer. The doctor wants a meeting to discuss options on Monday afternoon at 4:00 PM at her hospital office. The doctor will be away on a skiing trip until Monday.

Your friend and employee knows that you have a prescription for Xanax (.25 mg) that you take twice daily for anxiety and stress.

Your friend and employee is devastated and worried. S(he) has been told that the doctor is away and no one is available to provide a prescription.

Your friend and employee approaches you (Friday late) and asks if s(he) can have about six (6) of your Xanax tablets to get through the weekend until s(he) can meet with the doctor on Monday for a prescription.
