Write your long report for the companyfirm you chose for

Final Portfolio & Presentation

Your final portfolio will include two documents, both of which are enumerated below, and a presentation based on the long report.
Long Report:

1. Based on the writing guidelines we have discussed throughout the term, and you will write a long report, specifically an internal proposal. An internal proposal is written in-house at an organization or company by an employee, department or group seeking to establish funding for a particular item, expense, concept or idea. An example of an internal proposal would be: proposing a reduction in day-to-day expenses that would lead to significant cost savings within the company such as changing the location of the company parking structure from inside the building housing the company to an open lot two blocks down the street in order to save on parking expenses. This is just one example - the possibilities for a long report are widespread.

2. To provide your long report context and ‘real life' applicability, write your long report for the company/firm you chose for writing your business letter. The idea or concept you pitch should be relevant to your chosen company. Your proposal should be well researched with at least five credible secondary sources. You may also use primary sources where applicable.

3. Your long report should consist of the following:

a. Letter of transmittal (Business letter style, no more than one page)

b. Title page

c. Abstract (200 words)

d. Introduction, body and conclusion (1750 words)

e. Reference list

4. Your report should adhere to APA or MLA formatting, particularly for references.

5. All reports must be typed. Handwritten reports will not be accepted.

Resume:

1. Prepare a resume. Your resume can be organized either chronologically or by function/skill area.

2. Your resume should not be longer than one page

3. Your resume, particularly the career objective portion, should be tailored to the job advertisement used for both your business letter assignment and the long report.

Presentation:

1. The presentation, which you will deliver during one of the last three class sessions, will be based on the findings of your long report. Your presentation should be focused on the introduction, body and conclusion of the report. For pointers on condensing your report to a presentation.

2. Be sure to incorporate the public speaking skills discussed in class. Your presentation should maintain the interest of the audience (the instructor and students).

3. You must use a visual aid in your presentation. Examples include a poster, a PowerPoint presentation, handouts, etc.
