HEALTH CARE, ETHICS AND EQUITY PAPER: INSTRUCTIONS

Getting started: Carefully read this assignment description. Then, please complete the following stepsin the order below before

1. Read the Code of Ethics for the Health Education Profession written by SOPHE.

2. Read the Macklin article. Read the full article, and take notes on the ethical principles..

3. Read the Rosen article.

Part 1:

Resources to use: The Code of Ethics written by SOPHE and the Macklin article: "Ethics and Reproductive Health: A Principled Approach"

What to do:

The Code of Ethics written by SOPHE is grounded in four ethical principles. These principles help health professionals act ethically. The Macklin article explores three of these principles as they relate to reproductive health care.

1. First, write the definition of each ethical principle, as it stated in the Macklin article. Directly quote the definition, and be sure to provide anin-text citation in correct APA format. Then paraphrase it in your own words.

2. Next, review the Code of Ethics. Look for a "section" that relates to the definition of each principle. Look for important words/terms that appear in both the definitions of the principles and in the Code of Ethics. Choose aspecific "section" and write it down, including both the article and section numbers (e.g., "Article IV, Section 3: Health Educators are committed to rigorous evaluation of both program effectiveness and the methods used to achieve results.") Be sure to provide anin-text citation in correct APA format after each section.Note:

• You will lose points if you only state the numbers!Write down the full sentences.

• Use a section only once. Do not use the same section as an example for more than one principle, because you will not receive any points for the second time a section is used.

3. Then discuss how the section relates to the key ideas of the principle. Be specific, and state which important terms stood out. Write one or two complete sentences about each section.

Part 2:

Resources to use: The Rosen article: "The Public Health Risks of Crisis Pregnancy Centers"

What to do:

Dr. Rosen states, "...these practices (of crisis pregnancy centers) jeopardize the health of women and their children, and a public health response is warranted." In a one paragraph essay, answer these two questions:

• What are the key points she makes to support the above statement? (Write at least 3 sentences.)

• Do you personally agree or disagree that CPC's jeopardize the health of women and their children? Why?(Write at least 2 sentences.)

• Be sure to provide at least onein-text citation in correct APA format. It may be necessary to write two.

• Do not include the questions in your one paragraph essay, and do not use bullets within the paragraph.

Part 5:

Resources to use: Your APA manual, Purdue OWLWriting Commons, YouTube videos, etc.

What to do:

Cite yourtwo references at the end on a separate "references" page, in APA style (of course)!

Tips and notes:

1-. Please use neutral, medically accurate language, such as "pregnancy," "embryo," or "fetus," rather than charged language such as "baby" or "unborn child."

2-. Focus on what is being asked in the questions. You will not be awarded points if you provide examples that are not asked for.
