Problem: This study builds on existing literature emphasising the importance of both cognitive and non-cognitive factors, such as personality traits, in predicting academic success (Laidra et al., 2007). It is focused on individual traits to address gaps in prior work that often aggregates domains. This study hypothesises: H1 Conscientiousness will be positively associated with GPA (Rosander et al., 2011). H2 Extraversion will show no association with GPA, or at most a very small negative association (Schoeman & Kotze, 2022). H3 IQ will display a small positive association with GPA.
