Question: Write an essay that analyzes ONE methodology we discussed in class (based on a chapter in Gillian Rose, Visual Methodologies: Chapter 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, or 10; Semiology, Compositional Analysis, Psychoanalysis, Discourse Analysis I, Discourse Analysis II, or Audience Studies). Your essay should examine the material in the chapter in detail and discuss the sort of research questions and visual material that would be your method would solicit. Make sure to discuss the major writers associated with this methodology as well as the advantages and disadvantages of using it to analyze visual culture. You may also use information in Chapters 1 and 2 to define visual culture and discuss the criteria for evaluating a methodology.
Your essay should be 3 to 4 pages typed (12-point font) and uploaded on Blackboard before midnight on, October 11. The essay will be cleared through SafeAssign, an anti-plagiarism database. Any direct quotations must be placed in quotation marks and properly cited using Chicago Manual of Style.
