Describe the client/organization

This multispecialty clinic sits in the community of Brownsville and has been serving the community for over 30 years. This clinic is part of a network of facilities that cater to residence all over the five boroughs of New York city. With thirty-five locations and more than one thousand employees, the network serves as a majority of Medicare and Medicaid patients. Each location is managed by a practice manager, nurse manager and a medical director. The practice manager is responsible for all administrative staff, the nurse manager is responsible for all nurses, medical assistants, and phlebotomy team. The medical director oversees the primary care physicians, specialists, physician assistant, and nurse practitioners.

In January of 2017, the company received confidential patient feedback for all 35 locations. The surveys focused on check in time, wait time and visit time. In all three areas of the survey, the Brownsville office came in last with the lowest scores and the most complaints. Upon further analysis, it was concluded that the check in time had the most complaints and most cost-effective problem to fix. To reduce the check in time, the clinic introduced self-service kiosk that would allow patients to check themselves in upon arrival to the facility. However, since the introduction of the self-service kiosk, an analysis of its usage shows its barely being used.

The organization became aware of the problem after a survey sent to patients revealed over little to no awareness of the self-service kiosk. No actions have been taken at this time.
