Case Assignment
After viewing "An Education in Equality," "Learning Begins at Home," "A Military Education," and "an Education," write an organized and well-supported essay in which you make three observations about education and what impacts (and enhances) student learning. Consider impacts and influences such as parenting, home life, society, race, technology, ethnicity, socioeconomics, etc.
A well-organized essay has a beginning, middle, and an end. The beginning, or introduction, should include an opening sentence to grab your reader's attention. Follow the opening sentence with a brief background on the topic or situation. In this case, it might be the state of education today. The last sentence of the introduction is the thesis statement. The thesis states the main point of the essay, which in this case, would be what impacts/influences student learning.
A well-supported essay includes supporting points, details, and examples. For this essay, you must decide the best way to organize the body of the paper. Will you have a paragraph for each impact or enhancement? Will you divide the body of your paper into three paragraphs, one for each impact? In any case, each body paragraph must support (explain) your reasoning (rationale) using specific details. Each body paragraph must begin with a topic sentence that states the main point of the paragraph.
The conclusion typically summarizes the main points of the essay and/or closes with a lasting impression that connects the reader to their world. You may wish to offer suggestions to reader about what makes for exceptional student learning.
Be sure to proofread your essay and edit for proper grammar, punctuation, diction (word choice), and spelling, as errors in sentence skills will lower a final grade. A grade will be determined based on the Module 1 Case expectations and the Trident University General Education rubric for English found in the course syllabus.

The first person "I" is not used in a formal essay, nor is the passive "you." In place of "you," "one" may be used.
No secondary sources are to be used in the process of writing this first paper; it is to be entirely written based on one's point of view and supported with body points and details.

B. a brief summary to introduce the topic: the reason for this essay is to consider and outline the different impacts and influences students see, in different styles of parenting or schooling

First Body Paragraph (1st supporting point)
A. Topic Sentence states 1st supporting point: Technology advances have changed the way students are taught these days, and will continue to change.
B. Expand and give specific details: The advances in technology such as the smart board instead of the overhead projector or traditional blackboard. The students are introduced to technology earlier in their lives which in turn makes them smarter.
C. Provide support using examples and if assigned, quotes: Kids get ipads, iphones, ipods, tablets which have apps for everything and they learn and develop a lot faster.

Second Body Paragraph (2nd supporting point)
A. Topic Sentence states 2nd supporting point: Home life can definitely influence the way students learn and interact in the school environment.
B. Expand and give specific details: a military student might have different values that are taught to them early in life, as oppose to a student who was raised by a single parent.
C. Provide support using examples and if assigned, quotes: The military lifestyle is a lot different than the civilian sector, for example early on the military parent may force their child to respect the values, Loyalty, duty, respect, honor, and integrity etc.
D. Analysis (analyze/connect evidence to supporting reason and argument)

A. Topic Sentence states 3rd supporting point: Peers, and students that are brought up with.
B. Expand and give specific details: Your friends in your school and classes can directly impact the way you learn way you act. Joking, embarrassment, distraction.
C. Provide support using examples and if assigned, quotes: the distractions can be a lot bigger once in high school, and may be hard to teach.
D. Analysis (analyze/connect evidence to supporting reason and argument)
V. Conclusion
A. Restate main point of the essay: To focus on the way children are taught, and the impacts and influences they face.
B. Summarize supporting reasons: Technology advances, home life plays a role, and their friends and peers in the class.
C. Concluding thoughts to leave a lasting impression on the reader: Growing up, changing ways , and molding the future through influences.
