Assignment Choice #2: Safety and Security Versus Individual Rights
Write an essay describing the importance of balancing safety and security with individual rights. Which do you think is most important? Are they equal? In light of events of terrorism around the world, which is currently more important to you: crime control or individual liberty? What about liberty and privacy rights of individuals at border points - should they be reduced? Provide sources to support your argument.
Your paper should be 2-3 pages in length and conform to APA Requirements. Include at least one U.S. Supreme Court case and two criminal procedure amendments references, in addition to the course textbook. Remember, you must support your thinking/opinions and prior knowledge with references; all facts must be supported; in-text references used throughout the assignment must be included in an APA-formatted reference list.
