Write an essay about the roles "race" and "ethnicity" have played, and continue to play, in your life. Because "race" and "ethnicity" are social constructs, what are some implications of the way you (and your family, friends, etc.) have been racialized/ethnicized. You may want to explore how racism in its many variants has been employed, through intersections of other categories of "difference" (e.g. gender, sexuality, citizenship, species), to create hierarchies of human worth by conferring varying degrees of privilege to some while denying it to others. Personal narrative is of course acceptable in this essay as long as it is used to support critical claims about your topic.
