Write an APA-style abstract of the essay "A Plague of Tics" by David Sedaris. Remember that an abstract functions as a summary of a larger piece of work. You will be asked to write an abstract for essays you write later in this course, so learning this skill now will help you later in the semester.
Abstract Expectations
• Clearly and accurately summarize the main points of the essay
• Uses keywords to explain the main ideas represented
• Gives an overview of the entire essay, not just the beginning
• Reports the most important information without providing personal commentary
• Is structured in order of the way ideas are ordered in the essay
• Describes the problem the author addresses
• Identifies how the essay concludes
• Uses appropriate academic tone
• All drafts should be typed, double-spaced, in Times New Roman font size 12, 1-inch margins all around
• Written in third-person point-of-view (ex: The writer says...)
• Includes an APA-style title page and header
• Proofread for grammatical and spelling mistakes
