Assignment: Reaction Paper for The Sunflower by Simon Wiesenthal
Requirements: Your reaction paper should be 5 type-written pages, double-spaced, Times New Roman font. Please have a cover sheet which contains your name, title of the course, and date of submission.List each question as a heading in your paper then write your answer below the heading.
Your Reaction Paper should answer the following questions:
Part One:
• Write a two-page reaction essay in which you let me know (as the reader and grader) what you think of the book - what do you like and/or dislike about the book? Has the book affected you in any way?
Part Two:
Write a three-page essay answering the following questions:
• What aspects (for example his courage, his trials, his friendships, etc) of Wiesenthal's story are you able to connect to society today? In other words, are there aspects of Wiesenthal's story which carry meaning to society today? What are those aspects and what is the message?
• Fifty-three distinguished women and men give their response to Simon Wiesenthal's question - what would you do? Pick three authors (out of the fifty-three) and talk about why you liked his/her response to the question? (Be specific using direct quotes from the book.)
• If Wiesenthal was sitting in front of you today - what would you ask him? What would you like to know? What would you tell him you realized as a result of reading his book?
