Directions: Write a six-para forma l argumentative essay, which makes the case for one of the topic options below. Note that i have written the thesis statement for you.
Organization and structure:
para 1: why is this an issue about which people disagree? What are the parameters of the argument? Conclude the introdctory paragraph by copying and underlining the thesis statement which i have written for you.
Para's 2,3,4: beginning with an underlined topic sentence, make the case for, prove, advance , the thesis statement, by providing compelling evidence.
Para 5: refutation/rebuttal paragraph--using the strategies you learned in the reutation link, anticipate the arguments of the opposition, clearly state and then refute, rebutt at least one argument of your opposition.
Para 6: provide a brief conclusion, in which you summarize your major claims, and then, restate the thesis statement
Topic options: you may choose to adopt either side as your own argument.
1. The drinking age should be lowered to 18.
2. Americans voters should directly elect the president by national vote, and render the electoral college, an 18th century construction, obsolete.
3. Eating vegetables is a healthier diet than eating meat.
