This assignment focuses on the stages of the policy process and stresses the importance of policy evaluation.
Search the local newspaper for policy problems currently being discussed in a local community.
Write a short paper that identifies and explains the problem.
Generate a list of possible policy alternatives to address it, discussing pros and cons of each.
Consider ways to quantify or measure the outputs and outcomes of the policy alternatives and highlight the difficulty of measuring outputs and outcomes.
Consider how other similar (or non-similar) communities may have addressed the same policy problem.
Assignments should be approximately 800-1,000 words. Your focus should be more on content than meeting word requirements.
