In preparation for your Final Capstone Research Project, select a topic area from the following list:
• Belief systems in historical context
• Colonialism or decolonization
• Empire or imperialism
• Gender roles and relationships in historical context
• Nationalism
• Revolution (social, political, cultural, or economic)
• Social traditions or social change
For this assignment:
• Write a research question addressing the selected topic. The research question should succinctly articulate the proposed scope of your project. The research question must be open-ended, invite consideration of broader historical issues, and be potentially answerable.
• Write one paragraph explaining the historical context and/or historiography relevant to your research question.
• Provide a preliminary annotated bibliography that includes at least four sources. Include both primary sources and scholarly secondary sources. Each entry in the annotated bibliography should be three to five sentences in length and summarizes the contents of each selected source and its relevance to the topic. Include the title of the source, author, publisher, place, and date of publication in APA style or according to the Chicago Manual of Style (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.
Format your assignment according to the following formatting requirements:
1. The answer should be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides.
2. The response also includes a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student's name, the course title, and the date. The cover page is not included in the required page length.
3. Also include a reference page. The Citations and references should follow APA format. The reference page is not included in the required page length.
