While expert interviews are a common method for collecting qualitative research data, when a face-to-face meeting is not possible - interviews can also be facilitated through written questions and answers. This is the method that you will be using to collect qualitative data from an identified expert in a field related to your business report topic. What you are looking for from these experts are relevant examples, anecdotes, 'lessons' learned', advice, etc. Including this information in your report will add depth and credibility.
As outlined in the Business Report Project Map, begin to locate secondary research sources. You will need these credible, relevant sources later on for your Annotated Bibliography, but background research will also help you to turn up 'experts in the field'. These experts may be writers, researchers, professors, scientists, thought leaders, association presidents, innovators, etc.
