This is an idea that I have, please don't write this word by work, because I used it for something else.
I work in the ICU unit and lately I have notice that the workload has been too much. I have also notice that in this particular ICU there is not enough to cover the quantity of patients that we have. This leads to nursing shortage, on certain days we have agency nurses that come and help out, so as of now when the staff is not calculated correct to cover for the day. We are starting at 3 patient's each, which in an acute unite, personally I don't think is safe. Now I suggested that on a daily bases we should get a PCA to help us out, with daily baths, help feed the patients that need to be fed, etc. Second, then put one extra nurse daily just in case we get hit with new admissions and transfers. I as a nurse that works in this workplace these two will help out us nurses that are over working in this unit.
