The recent revision of the National Coaching Accreditation Program (NCAP) to the Singapore Coach Excellence (SG-Coach) Program and the call for systematic development of coaches in Singapore are in line with the global effort by the International Council for Coach Education (ICCE) that aims to develop sport coaching as a profession. However good the intentions are to professionalize coaching, critics question if this is a realistic goal for an occupational group such as sport coaching. In lessons 1 and 2 , you have learnt about the different coaching pathways in Singapore and beyond , the issues faced by sport coaches and the various initiatives to drive sport coaching as a profession in Singapore. Write a paper to discuss the efficacy (effectiveness) in professionalizing sport coaching as a career in Singapore.
