1. Ch-9 Segregation race and Poverty discusses three causes of segregation: economics, institutionalization, and preference. Think about a city you have lived in and how these forces influenced segregation. Write a two-page, double-spaced paper relating observations and experiences from your town with any or all of the three factors.
2. Contact a family member who is familiar with your family tree. (grandparents can be fantastic resources for this information.) Try to trace back your lineage as far as possible, taking note of which countries your ancestors originated from. Write a one-page, double-spaced paper discussing your findings, including references to any immigration records you are able to locate.
