• The message is placed on top of the résumé so it can be read first by the employer.
• The message should gain the recipient's attention, provide evidence of your qualifications for the position, be professional and appropriate for the position, and encourage action by the recipient.
• Use contemporary language; Avoid writer-focused statements; Avoid unconvincing generalizations.
• Tailor your message to the employer's need; Focus on strengths and portray a positive attitude. Communicate knowledge about the company or agency and job requirements.
