Problem: Assume that you are a very innovative and creative person and have just thought of a great business idea. Now, to convert the business idea to actual business profits, you have to set up an office that will run your business.
Since your business idea has really took off, your business office will need to have all the usual parts of a business (Accounting, HR etc.) You have hired a total of 10 employees to work in this office in various functions and capacity.
You have bought and old warehouse with no network infrastructure and you have to design a network that will properly serve the business needs of your new office.
However, before you can install the network and have your business operating smoothly, you need to submit a network design document not exceeding five, one and half spaced, 12 point font, to the local government bureaucrats to get their approval.
The network design document should have the following (feel free to add more more information is better than less):
Q1. What kind of network do you propose? Why?
Q2. What devices would your network support (workstations, printers etc)? How many of each?
Q3. What kind of Internet connectivity would you use? What bandwidth? Router?
Q4. Would you need IP addresses? Static or dynamic? How many?
Q5. How will your network be managed? Do you need any specialized devices to manage your network?
Q6. How are you ensuring that the network is scalable and will be able to grow along with your business without a complete re-design.
Q7. Any other important consideration in network design and operation.
