Find a prompt for an extemporaneous writing essay. In your essay I want you to develop a thesis and defend it. Your thesis may be that no definitive answer can be arrived at. But that itself is a thesis in need of defense. I'm not looking for a particular "correct: response so much as I'm looking for a well-reasoned response and defense. .
Imagine a species of intelligent life which perceives only atoms in relation to other atoms. Would our word "giraffe" have any meaning for such a species? That is, could we communicate with such a species and identify the everyday objects of our experience to them? Would even our word "atom" make any sense to these creatures?
