Analytical Paper:
You should select a topic closely related to sports and politics. Your paper should take a position on your selected topic that you will then build the case for.
Below is a list of topics which would be appropriate to analyze. You are not limited to this list but your topic must be approved.
Would hosting the 2024 Olympics be a good thing for Los Angeles?
Should cities and states provide public support for professional sports stadiums and arenas?
Should baseball's anti-trust exemption be discontinued?
Are college athletics broken?
Was WKU's decision to move to FBS in football a good move?
Was WKU's decision to cut the Track & Field (or Soccer, etc.) program budget half a good move?
How should Title IX be interpreted?
Should casino style gambling be legalized at horse tracks in Kentucky?
Guidelines:
The paper is an analysis - this means the approach you take should be systematic and analytical. For example, don't just be descriptive, evaluate the nomination process.
During the paper you should clearly demonstrate that you understand your selected topic and the issues related to it. At some point, you should present and address counter arguments to your position.Be sure to clearly defend your position with evidence and logic. If you propose reforms, you must clearly address what the reforms are designed to improve and what the impact of the reforms would be.
Requirements:
Paper must be typewritten, double-spaced, Times New Roman Size or Garamond 12 font, with 1 inch margins on all sides.
The paper should be grammatically sound. Pay attention to both content and form as both will be considered in the evaluation process.
If you use information or ideas from other sources, be sure to cite appropriately.
You will have to submit both a draft and final version of your paper.
