Without the scientific advances pioneered previously in China and other parts of Asia and the Muslim world, would the Scientific Revolution of the 17th century been possible? Why or Why not?
I've read Kuhn and concur with his analysis that evolving religious beliefs and new empirical breakthroughs account largely for this, but the above question remains. How important was the influence from cultures outside of Europe on this era?
