It is important to note that while Sears had been an industry leader for many years, Wal-Mart entered the market with a new way of doing things. The long established leader, Sears, was ingrained in ways of doing business that had become outdated. Once the change in supplier and inventory technology shifted, perhaps Sears did not recognize the importance of adapting to this shift?
