Why you consider the variable you named as a confounder

Problem

You are requested to design a research project with a clear research question that investigates something that interests you. The outcome measure must be a continuous variable that will be compared:

• By two independent samples and
• By two dependent samples.

Note that the research question stays the same. The only thing that will change will be the study design and the way you will be comparing the outcome measure.

Besides the outcome measure, also list two variables that you will be collecting for this study - variables that may be of some importance to the investigated outcome. One of these two variables must be a confounder. Explain why you consider the variable you named as a confounder.

The second variable named must be an effect modifier. Explain why you think the variable you named is an effect modifier.
