1) In Ch 12, the author states that state policies like Aid to Families with Dependent Children seek to limit "kin dependence." Please explain in detail what this means.
2) Ch 13- Explain why Tobin belonged to top 1% of income earners.
3) Ch 14- Roughly 8 in 10 property owners abate nuisance activity, regardless of what it involved, by evicting tenants or threatening then with eviction if the police were to be contacted again ...and thus implementing a "quick fix." Discuss challenges of this process and social outcomes especially for women.
4) On Lorraine and her late boyfriend Glen's anniversary, she spends her monthly allocation of food stamps on "two lobster tails, shrimp, king crab legs, salad and lemon meringue pie." Can you relate to her decision? How might you have judged her differently with knowing the backstory that author provides.
