Why the carbon does not produce a bimolecular gas


Why doesn't carbon produce a bimolecular gas, nitrogen (three pair of shared electrons) and as hydrogen (one pair of shared electrons), oxygen (two pairs of shared electrons)? Carbon atoms can share four electron pairs when forming molecules.
