According to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (n.d.),"School violence is violence that occurs in the school setting, such as on school property or on the way to or from school, or during a school-sponsored event or on the way to or from a school-sponsored event. It describes violent acts that disrupt learning and have a negative effect on students, schools, and the broader community"(para. 1). There are many ways to prevent school violence like actively bringing awareness to it. Having pep rally's discussing how much of a negative impact it has on the school and safety. I do like the concept of a metal detector which will make it hard for weapons to bring brought into the school. According to Morse (n.d.)," Schools are taking a variety of measures to improve school safety. These include the use of metal detectors, the presence of security guards on campus, rules and regulations regarding student conduct and dress, profiling of potentially violent students, anti-bullying instructional programs, and counseling and mediation"(para. 2).
