Why plants need to do exchange gases with the environment?

The Plants need to do gas exchange because they create aerobic cellular respiration (like animals) and they need to release carbon dioxide and to get molecular oxygen. Moreover aerobic cellular respiration plants still need to get carbon dioxide to make photosynthesis and to release the molecular oxygen that is the product of this reaction.
