Why Partnerships with Families Matter? Families are their child's first teacher. When the school and families work together, children have significant growth in their social, emotional, and cognitive skills. Strong partner with family and school helps children feel supported, understood and ready to learn. We believe that families are essential partners in decision-making and advocacy. When families feel respected and heard, children are more likely to succeed in school and beyond. PTA National Standards # 3: Supporting Student Success This standard emphasizes the importance of families and educators working together to support children at school and at home. We will share our curriculum, learning goals, and the students' progress with their families. We will encourage families to support learning at home. We will provide families with the tools each child needs to succeed.How will we support families throughout the year • Communication updates: Families will receive regular updates, weekly newsletters, parent teacher conferences, and informal communication. This will help the parents stay informed about their child's progress. • Family Engagement and Helpful Resources: We will provide development appropriate activities that families can use at home to work with their child. These activities will help to improve their social, emotional, and cognitive skills. Families will be encouraged to work with their child each day for 15 minutes.
