Why did Murder attract so much attention in Victorian Britain?
Please focus on great britain not the world or America, look at the economic booms, literacy rates, newspapers, focus on a time period, look at murder towards children, wives,focus on local newspapers rather than national papers, look at what the relationship between media consumption and punitive attitues, look at how murderes were treated by the press, what have other historians concluded to the findings, look at police and there effectivness. Please do not look at Jack the Ripper………look at the fear of crime etc.
