Assignment:
Part 1. Get a local newspaper (i.e. NOT the USA Today, Wall Street Journal, etc.). In Montgomery, for example, one might grab a copy of the Montgomery Advertisor. Read the first headline that you can find that is not a report of a crime. Consider how the subject of this article might be important to local businesses. In your posting to this discussion, provide the class with a summary of the article and your thoughts as to why is important to businesses local area. If the effect on businesses is very small, or very large, say why you think that is the case.
Part 2. Which articles from other newspapers (other cities) do you think might be important to businesses in your area? For example, is something in the Montgomery Advertiser important to businesses in Nashville, TN? If you cannot find anything that would be relevant to your area, what about other articles in your newspaper that might be relevant to businesses in other areas.
