Some politicians express concern about our trade deficit with specific nations. For example, twenty years ago they worried about our trade deficit with Japan. More recently they have expressed concern over our trade deficit with China. Is there any reason to believe that a trade deficit with any particular nation is of any particular importance? If South Carolina runs a trade deficit with Texas, is this cause for concern in either state? Explain.
